Trees for free

Stonewood homeowners again are eligible to have trees planted on the right-of-way between street and sidewalk, free of charge. The Future Altamonte Springs Trees (F.A.S.T.) program is designed to “create a greener future” for the city, according to the Altamonte Springs website.

A variety of trees are available, ranging from understory trees, such as crape myrtle and golden trumpet, to canopy trees like magnolia and live oak. The city arborist will meet with property owners to advise which trees are suitable for their location. Owners must agree to maintain the tree after planting.

Trees are planted by city staff at no charge. Plantings are scheduled as personnel have time available to do the work.

To adopt a tree, contact the arborist at (407) 571-8883. Orders are being accepted now for future planting dates.
